Our Principal & Assistant Principals

Principal’s Message:

Welcome to Roosevelt Middle School! We are honored to lead our students through this exciting and pivotal stage of their educational journey. During their time at RMS, our students have the opportunities to expand their ideas and knowledge; ask questions; apply critical thinking skills; celebrate their accomplishments; and connect with peers, the local and wider community, and our amazing staff — to name just a few. Students are empowered to connect to their talents and interests through an extensive range of exploratory electives, clubs, and activities based on personal interests and talents in an environment filled with positive energy, high expectations, encouragement, and pride.

We are thrilled to be recognized for our work by Colorado Association of Middle Level Education (CAMLE)  as a 2024 exceptional middle-grades school to watch  — one of only three schools in Colorado to receive this honor. Katie Gustafson, CAMLE Board Member and Director of the Colorado Schools to Watch program, summed it up when she said, “Roosevelt Middle School ignites student learning through intentional academic opportunities for all students, relentless relationship building, and innovative elective opportunities to meet interests of all students in the school. Milliken’s faculty and administrative team continuously strive to innovate and elevate learning, to reach and teach every child!”

Our engaging middle school experiences are also designed to give students a jump start on high school. We work closely with our colleagues at the new state-of-the-art Roosevelt High School (RHS) to ensure that our courses flow seamlessly into pathways at RHS. Our eighth-grade CTE (Career & Technical Education)  students, for example, explore career interests and possibilities, learn directly from teachers and students at RHS, meet  industry professionals, and gain leadership opportunities through competitions at conferences and other involvement in career and technical student organizations.

In January, 2025, we will become Roosevelt Middle School and move into our own state-of-the art campus! The new school will offer the same positive culture and opportunities enhanced by a bright, beautiful learning commons for students to collaborate and/or study independently, dedicated CTE areas — including the agricultural growing space, an art studio, and a built-in robotics arena — and amenities that are typically only available to high school students, such as a spacious auditorium, a wrestling room, a football field, and a running track. We are excited about what the future holds for our community!

I hope this small glimpse into MMS has your child and you excited about their new journey at MMS. I believe that strong family connections are essential to student success and as such, my door is always open. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
